Single dosimeter

When main menu is displayed and "Single dosimeter" selected,
two choices are displayed on the screen :

  • Measurement
  • BGD measurement

I. BGD Measurement

If background measurement is needed for each dosimeter before irradiation, choose "BGD measurement". This screen will be displayed :

* Complete the heading (name, mode, control, dosimeter, batch, wavelength and note).

* The dosimeter batch will be used for the identification of the dosimeter background in the measurement file. Input the identification sample number of each dosimeter and measure the corresponding background.

Take care to put the right identification sample number because this file will be used during the measurement processs of the dosimeter.

II. Measurement

When the main menu is displayed, and "Single dosimeter" selected, choose "measurement" to access this sheet. (See Readout possibilities of Aer'ODE in general use section for more informations)

Complete the heading as in calibration mode (See preparation of a new file in general use section for more informations). Some specific fields are explain here :

SDM Mode :Three single measurements modes are available :

  • Mean Background (For this choice the actual background is the mean value of a batch of unirradiated dosimeters specified in the BGD field)
  • Individual Background (For this choice the actual background is measured for each dosimeter individually before irradiation.
  • Test routine (This mode gives the possibility to use the software without communication with the readout equipment's).
  • Select the single dosimeter readout control modes (Tab control, Beep-Beep or Robot) (See Single dosimeter readout control modes in general use section for more informations)
Entry : This field is used for the identification of the measurement file. Informations like customers n°, product n°, process batch, … can be given here. It can also be empty but remember that this field can be used as a mask for the database data search.

Dosimeter : Choose the calibration file corresponding to the type and batch of dosimeter in the list displayed on the screen. This list of calibration files displayed on the screen can be filtered (See section : IV.2.2.5 Access the database).

* Click the Selection button to validate your choice. The rest of the heading is automatically completed.

* If the dosimeter background value needs to be updated, input the new value in current background cell.

* If necessary, enter a note in the corresponding field.

When the heading is complete, the software checks the communication between the PC, the spectrophotometer, and the thickness gauge (if applicable).

Make sure that for both, absorbance or thickness measurement, the equipment are correctly zeroed :

  • without dosimeter but with dosimeter holder for the spectrometer
  • without dosimeter under the thickness gauge

If, while the measurements the communication should be interrupted (RS232, Power supply ...) the Aer'ODE Software will detect the problem, save the data and advise the user.

The current wavelength and absorbance appear on the spectrophotometer’s screen, as well as on the PC's screen.

Go to the first cell (sample N°). Input your dosimeter Sample N° (00001 is the default N°).

If the individual dosimeter background has been measured, input the same sample N° in the cell that the one in the background file.
The corresponding background will be automatically displayed in the cell called BGD.

The progress of the measurement is depending on the chosen single dosimeter readout control mode. (See Single dosimeter readout control modes in general use section for more informations).

If, Tab control mode has been chosen, the measurement is manual. If, Beep-Beep mode has been chosen, the measurement is semi-automatic.
If, Robot mode has been chosen, the measurement is automatic (the exact thickness of the reference thickness block must be given in the heading).

  • As written on the screen, put the dosimeter in the spectrophotometer. The absorbance is displayed in the corresponding cell of the table.
  • Take the dosimeter out of the spectrophotometer and put it under the thickness gauge (as written on the screen). The thickness value is displayed in the corresponding cell of the table.

The specific absorbance, absorbed dose and uncertainty is automatically calculated and displayed in the table. (See annexe about uncertainty calculation).

  • Repeat this procedure for each dosimeter.

If error occurs during measurement, use the mouse to modify the current line of the data inputs. Double click on the sample N° cell and measure again. Use right click to erase a complete line. (See Modification and deleting in general use section for more informations).

III. Access the database

At any moment in a calibration sheet, old data which are saved in the database can be consulted, by a click on the Access DB button, after declaration of the user name and password recognition.

Only the users who have been authorized by the administrator in the registration menu can have access to the database.

Click the list button to display the list of all the dosimetry readings saved in the database

As in the calibration mode, a mask can be enabled to display specific data. (See Calibration section for more informations)
