I. Strip Measurement
|
| |
After log in, when main menu is displayed, and "Strip dosimeter" selected, choose "Measure" to access the sheet (See Readout possibilities of Aer'ODE in general use section for more informations). The "test routine" can also be selected to run a strip measurement with default data, without any communication with the measurement equipments.
Complete the heading as in calibration mode (See preparation of a new file in general use section for more informations).
Some specific fields are explained here :
-
Entry : This field is used for the identification of the measurement file. Informations like customers n°, product n°, process batch, … can be given here. It can also be empty but remember that this field can be used as a mask for the database data search.
-
Strip N° :This field is used for the identification of the dosimeter strip.
-
Dosimeter : As for single measurement, choose the calibration file corresponding to the type and batch of dosimeter in the list displayed on the screen. This list of calibration files can be filtered.
Click the Selection button to validate your choice. The rest of the heading is automatically completed.
-
Cur. BGD : The absorbance of a strip of non irradiated dosimeter (Background BGD) can be measured or entered manually if it need to be updated. To measure the background, use F1 key. Take a sample of a non irradiated dosimeter (at least 15 cm) and put it in the drive motor.
Click the measure button for the Background absorbance measurement. At the end of the reading, close the window and the mean background value appears on the screen in the current BGD cell.
-
Resolution (pnts/cm) :This field is used to define the resolution of the strip measurement (number of points per cm of strip). The resolution should be within 0.1 to 10 points per cm.
If necessary, enter a note in the corresponding field.
When the heading is complete, the software checks the communication between the PC, the spectrophotometer, and the motor.
Make sure that the motor is installed in the spectrometer. If not, install it. Make sure that for absorbance, the spectrometer is zeroed correctly :
without dosimeter but with the motor
If, while the measurements the communication should be interrupted (RS232, Power supply ...) the Aer'ODE Software will detect the problem and advise the user.
The current wavelength appear on the spectrophotometer’s screen and the current absorbance appear on the PC's screen.
A new sheet is displayed on the screen :
The dosimeter strip should not be shorter than 15 cm, for this readout equipment. If the dosimeter strip stacks in the drive motor, then stop the measurement (Stop button), take out the strip (Rewind button), cut properly the end of it and try again by a click on the measure button.
During measurement, the absorbance values are displayed in this window.
The end of the measurement is detected automatically when the absorbance value is near zero or stable for a period of time. It can be also decided by the user with a click on the stop button.
At the end of the measurement, close the window (as written on the screen) by a click on the close button.
The specific absorbance, absorbed dose and uncertainty is automatically calculated and displayed in the table. (See annexe about uncertainty calculation).
The Min, Max and mean dose are displayed in the corresponding fields.
The possibility is given to the user to eliminate some data for the max, min and average dose calculation (for pen marks for example). To do so, indicate in the colomn "No-count-points-note" any character or information. The min, max and average dose values are automatically refreshed.
Click the Graphics button to display the graphic.
Different functions are available. Click the different buttons (Smooth, Restore, Curve selec., Min-Max, Note, ….) to check.
If the pen mark should not be displayed on the graph un-select the corresponding length and dose data and click Graphics button again.
-
Click the Close button to come back to the current data sheet.
-
Click the clear button once to measure another strip dosimeter with the same parameters or click two times to change the readout parameters of the heading too.
