A dedicated tool for Quality Assurance in Dosimetry for radiation processing


I. Requirements

1 PC : Minimum configuration :
Pentium II 450
64 Mo RAM
2 Go Hard Disk
CD Reader
Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 or XP
3 serial ports (9 pins male) : 1 port for the spectrophotometer - 1 port for the thickness gauge - 1 port for the motor

an Aer'ODE Software installation CD Rom : The name of the software is : Aer'ODE Vers.X.X.X.exe
1 printer with communication cable
1 spectrophotometer (Spectronic GENESYS 5, with communication cable
1 FWT, Gafchromic, Harwell dosimeter holder
1 thickness gauge with communication cable
1 Dosimeter strip moving device with communication box and cables (if applicable)
1 HARWELL Dosimeters robot with communication box and cables (if applicable)




II. Connections

1.Single readouts

Connect the communication cable named "Port RS 232 GENESYS 5" between the serial port 1 of the PC and the RS 232 port of the spectrophotometer
Connect the communication cable named "Thickness gauge" between the serial port 2 of the PC and the port of the thickness gauge.

2.Continuous readouts

Connect the communication cable "Port RS 232 GENESYS 5" between the serial port 1 of the PC and the port of the spectrophotometer
Connect the communication cable named' "Motor" between the port of the motor card and the port of the drive motor. Connect the communication cable named "Serial Motor Card" between the serial port (9 pins) of the motor card and the serial port 3 of the PC.
 
 

3. Dosimeters Robot

Connect the communication cable named "Port RS 232 GENESYS 5" between the serial port 1 of the PC and the port of the spectrophotometer.
Connect the communication cable named "Thickness gauge" between the serial port 2 of the PC and the port of the thickness gauge.
Connect the communication cable named ' Motor ' between the port of the motor card and the port of the drive motor. Connect the communication cable named "Serial Motor Card" between the serial port (9 pins) of the motor card and the serial port 3 of the PC.
Connect the printer communication cable to the parallel port of the PC.



III. Installation of the Spectrophotometer and the thickness gauge

These two devices are installed following the instruction documents of each apparatus



IV. Installation of the dosimetry software

1.Installation of the dosimetry software

The dosimetry software named Aer'ODE    Vers. X.exe was written by Aérial and is installed in the hard disk of the PC.
The copy of the original software is available onto the CD Rom.

Turn on the PC
Click on Start button on windows screen
Choose Run
d:\setup (if CD Rom) and type CR


Follow the instructions of the install shield program.

All files and directories present under the chosen directory shouldn't be erased or modified in order to ensure a correct running of Aer'ODE software.
